OJ Simpson passes away from prostate cancer at 76
The notorious OJ Simpson is sending shockwaves through social media on Thursday, as it was revealed that he passed away, at the age of 76. This comes as a result of a battle with prostate cancer that he was dealing with. Moreover, his family went on to release a statement on his social media feeds, confirming the passing.
“On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace. -The Simpson Family”
This comes after Simpson denied speculation in February, that he was in hospice care. That was posted in a video by him, as he was in Las Vegas for Super Bowl festivities.
Simpson was initially regarded as one of the greatest football players in the 1970s and 80s. This included his college years at USC, as well as his tenure in the NFL. However, his reputation went on to take a massive hit in the 1990s, after being accused of murdering Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman. But, he went on to be acquitted in that case.
Moreover, Simpson also served over nine years in prison, after initially being sentenced to 33 years, for sports memorability robbery, regarding items of his. He went on to be released in 2017, due to good behavior. Simpson had since been very active on social media, and discussed various sports and political topics.
