YNW Melly’s double murder retrial to take place in October

Last weekend, YNW Melly’s long-awaited double murder trial concluded in a mistrial. The jury in the trial simply wasn’t able to reach a unanimous decision, which ultimately resulted in the judge reaching this decision.

However, Melly isn’t off the hook just yet. It was believed by many that a retrial would take place, and that’s exactly what will take place, this fall. According to the Miami Herald, October 2 is the scheduled date.

Meanwhile, YNW Melly will not be released from prison, despite the mistrial occurring. If convicted int he retrial, there’s a huge possibility that the Broward County, FL rapper could receive life in prison.

Melly has been in prison since February 2019, after being accused of shooting and killing two of his childhood friends, in October 2018. Furthermore, Melly’s friend YNW Bortlen also was reportedly involved in the double murders. He and Melly allegedly also went on to stage a drive-by shooting, in order to cover up their crime.

At the time, Melly had been buzzing with projects such as “I Am You” and “We All Shine.” He even had a Kanye West collaboration.
