Stevie Wonder Announces “Songs in the Key of Life” Tour
Stevie Wonder is celebrating one of the most important albums of his legendary career.
The 25-time Grammy winner has announced the Songs in the Key of Life Performances – 50th Anniversary Tour. The upcoming run will honor his classic 1976 album, Songs in the Key of Life. Wonder will perform the album in its entirety during each show.
The tour will begin in Europe before eventually making its way across the United States. The first show is scheduled for October 13 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
For fans in North America, the tour will begin November 19 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The U.S. run will also include stops in Chicago, Washington, D.C., Detroit and Los Angeles.
Tickets are already becoming a major topic for fans who want to see the music icon perform this legendary project live.
Stevie Wonder Will Perform The Album In Full
The biggest attraction of this tour is clear.
Wonder is performing Songs in the Key of Life from beginning to end. That gives fans the opportunity to experience one of the most celebrated albums in music history as a complete live performance.
The album arrived in September 1976 as Wonder’s 18th studio album. It became the culmination of an incredible run that also included projects such as Music of My Mind, Talking Book, Innervisions and Fulfillingness’ First Finale.
Songs in the Key of Life also became one of Wonder’s biggest commercial successes. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spent 13 weeks at the top of the chart. The album eventually received Diamond certification from the RIAA.

U.S. Tour Begins In New York
The North American portion of the anniversary tour will start at one of the world’s most famous concert venues.
Wonder will perform at Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 19. He will then head to Chicago for a November 21 performance at United Center.
The tour continues November 23 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
Wonder will then return to Detroit for two special performances at the Fox Theatre on December 8 and 9. The Detroit dates are especially significant because Wonder was born in Michigan and has deep ties to the state’s Motown history.
The U.S. run will conclude December 19 at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
So far, the announced North American dates are:

Tickets Go On Sale This Week
Fans looking to attend the North American shows will not have to wait much longer.
General tickets for North America, excluding Detroit, will go on sale Thursday, September 10 at 10 a.m. local time. Detroit’s two shows will have a separate on-sale date, with tickets going on sale September 15 at 10 a.m. local time.
That means fans in New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles should be ready when tickets become available Thursday morning.
The European dates have their own presale and general-sale schedules.
Wonder’s European run begins October 13 in Birmingham. He will then perform in Paris, Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Hannover, Cologne and Amsterdam. Additional dates are scheduled in Dublin, London, Manchester and Glasgow.
The European leg concludes November 11 in Glasgow.
‘Songs in the Key of Life’ Remains A Classic
It is difficult to overstate the impact of Songs in the Key of Life.
The album arrived during one of the strongest periods of Wonder’s career. He was already coming off a string of critically acclaimed albums. However, he took his creativity even further with this project.
The album earned Wonder the Grammy Award for Album of the Year at the 1977 ceremony. He also won Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for the album. “I Wish” earned him Best Male R&B Vocal Performance as well.
The album’s influence has continued for decades.
It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. It was also added to the National Recording Registry in 2005, further recognizing its cultural and historical importance.
Wonder has also spoken highly of the album throughout his career.
In a 1995 interview with Q Magazine, he called Songs in the Key of Life the album he was most happy about. That makes this anniversary tour even more meaningful.
