North West goes viral after X post jokingly says she’s “cuttin up” at “MooMoos & Mimoas” event but the woman is actually the comedian, Gigi LeFlair

Gigi LeFlair sings into a handheld microphone at an outdoor gathering, wearing a bright turquoise patterned caftan and holding a printed fan. Behind her, a woman with short blonde hair in a pink, red, and white geometric dress dances with one arm raised. Gray curtains and hanging flowers decorate a brick wall, and large leafy plants sit in the foreground. To the right, a man in a tan shirt and a navy cap with a red M leans over audio equipment. A TikTok watermark reads @gigi_leflair.

A TikTok of a themed brunch was captioned with North West’s name, leading viewers to expect the 13-year-old before realizing the mismatch

A viral X post claimed North West was “out here cuttin up.” While it looks like North, the video is actually something else entirely. The 22-second clip, originally posted to TikTok by comedian Gigi LeFlair, shows a “MooMoos & Mimosas” brunch event. Women in caftan-style dresses sing and dance on a small outdoor platform. North West is not in the video. The caption is a joke.

The post, from @iMrMouth on September 9, has 18,400 likes, 1,600 reposts, and 682,000 views. The humor comes from the mismatch between the caption and the footage. Viewers expecting Kanye and Kim’s daughter instead found adult women having a good time at a themed gathering.

Auntie Brunch, Not a Concert

The clip shows an outdoor daytime gathering. A small raised platform sits against a brick wall with gray drapes, hanging floral strands, and large leafy plants in gold pots. Attendees stand close to the stage, hands and phones visible in the foreground. The atmosphere is informal and festive.

Two people dominate the frame. One woman holds a microphone and sings into it. She wears a long turquoise patterned caftan-style dress, white sneakers, and large gold hoop earrings. She holds a handheld fan printed with event branding. Behind and beside her, a woman with very short bleached-blonde hair dances with raised arms. She wears a loose, brightly colored geometric dress in pink, red, white, and blue. She turns, leans in toward the singer, and smiles. That second woman is the one the caption frames as “cuttin up.”

The video comes from the TikTok account @gigi_leflair, which shows the MooMoos & Mimosas brunch event. Gigi LeFlair is a stand-up comedian and content creator from Woodruff, South Carolina. The dancer in the clip is not identified by name in the post. The overlay text on the original TikTok reads “Were CUTTING UP yesterday” and “In case you missed #MOOMOOS&MIMOSAS.”

What Is MooMoos & Mimosas?

MooMoos & Mimosas” is a themed social brunch. Guests wear muumuus — loose, often brightly patterned housedresses — and drink mimosas. The format is informal, social, and oriented toward adult women, with singing, dancing, and hanging out rather than a ticketed concert.

Gigi LeFlair’s overlay presents the clip as a recap of the previous day’s event. As a stand-up comic and South Carolina native, LeFlair’s act focuses on Southern storytelling and observational humor. So, she has large followings on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. She has discussed growing up with cerebral palsy and using humor as a response to being targeted as a child.

The video is consistent with her usual postings of social events and comedy-adjacent gatherings. From the looks of her video, she was the life of the party. Also, it is obvious that Gigi prioritizes having a good time wherever she’s at. Muumuu-and-mimosa events sit in a recognizable Black social tradition of informal, dress-coded gatherings that emphasize comfort, friendship, food, and performance rather than nightlife glamour.

North West, the 13-Year-Old Superstar

The name in the caption belongs to the 13-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. We have covered her since birth. She released her debut EP, N0rth4evr, earlier this year. On September 5, four days before the post, she played a solo headline show at The Vic Theatre in Chicago. Both parents attended, seated separately. She posted afterward that the show was “what I’m meant to do.”

More recently, she appeared solo at the Vetements Menswear Spring/Summer 2027 show during Paris Fashion Week. She wore an oversized black long-sleeve top with gothic lettering, a pleated mini skirt, sheer tights, and chain-wrapped boots. Her turquoise-blue hair was styled in high pigtails, with manga-inspired makeup and apparent faux facial piercings. The look turned heads.

The dancer in the MooMoos & Mimosas clip has short bleached-blonde hair and a colorful loose dress. They do not look alike in motion. But in a still frame, the dancer’s short blonde hair and turned profile are close enough to North West’s silhouette to make someone pause. The video was not of North West, but for a moment, it was easy to think it was.

X Embraced the Humor in This

People treated the caption as the joke, not as a news claim. The tone was informal, laughing, and focused on the caption-video mismatch.

One reply from @sheisaicha wrote, “MANNN the way I had to tap the video and hear it first to make sure.” That reply, with about 1,300 likes, is representative. Another user replied “THIS CAPTION?!?” with a laughing video. Other replies were short laugh reactions.

@VekaliB wrote, “We not gone talk about Cynthia Erivo in the back?” That comment treated a background figure as a second layer of the joke. Playful identification with the energy appeared. Replies such as “That’s my gurl” and “All we do is […] PLAY ALL DAY” treated the dancing as relatable adult fun rather than as a celebrity scandal.

A minority of comments were moralizing or distancing. That was not the dominant register. Quote-tweet volume was high relative to reply count, which is consistent with people passing the joke along rather than debating it.

Gigi LeFlair, TikTok’s Superstar

Gigi LeFlair, the stage name of Khristle Floyd-Hughes. She is a stand-up comedian, content creator, and touring entertainer from Woodruff, South Carolina, who brands herself as “Carolina’s Country Comedienne.” Her work filters Southern culture through a Black millennial lens, drawing on flea markets, fish fries, card parties, and weekends with grandparents. She headlines her own tours, including “Auntie Outside” and “Kiki With Gigi,” and has shared bills with Karlous Miller, Luenell, Bruce Bruce, and DC YoungFly. Her audience is built on short-form video: roughly 700,000 TikTok followers and 31 million likes, with a target demographic of adults 25 to 55 and a strong female following.

Floyd-Hughes was born with cerebral palsy. As a child she wore a leg brace and was bullied. She has said comedy was how she protected herself: “Be funny, be a fighter, or be food.” She was not a fighter, so she chose funny. That history is part of how she talks about herself, though it is not the whole of her act. Her on-stage persona is the “favorite cousin on your mama’s side” — loud, specific, Southern, and built around making a room feel like family.

That persona is the reason the clip looked the way it did. An informal women’s brunch with singing and dancing is exactly the kind of gathering LeFlair is known to share. Someone else attached North West’s name to it. The comparison is not the first of its kind either. In November, viewers on social media said North looked like Queen Naija in a TikTok that went viral. Now, Gigi adds to that legacy.

Final Thought

While Gigi LeFlair saw her attendance at the MooMoos and Mimosas event as a space to showcase her talents, the audience saw something entirely different. When the video hit social media, they saw North West. Because the angle was so uncanny, many viewers literally thought they were watching North West. Compounding this with other actions from the actual North West, this led to a lot of criticism towards the child.

However, there are also those with watchful eyes and they pointed out it wasn’t North in the video at all. Those who followed closely correctly identified Gigi LeFlair. Through her own merits, LeFlair has made a name for herself that has nothing to do with viral antics. But going viral from antics have placed a bigger light on the work she’s doing. At a time when despair is running rampant, Gigi is using her own light to spread joy to others. This time, she has North West to thank for the assist.
