Monty Williams calls no-call an “abomination” in loss to Knicks and walks out of postgame interview [VIDEO]
Monty Williams calls officiating an abomination after loss to Knicks
Monty Williams took over as the Pistons head coach and they’ve had historic losing. Williams is a veteran coach in the NBA. He didn’t have the best of track records, until he took over the Phoenix Suns top coaching spot. In 2021, he coached the Suns to their first playoff appearance in over ten years, and they reached the NBA Finals. The following year, they had the NBA’s best record. However, they regressed, leading to his dismissal. With the Pistons, Williams was fed up after the loss to the Knicks.
Monty Williams was supposed to do with Detroit what he did in Phoenix. When Williams took over the head coaching position with the Suns, they were one of the worst teams of the decade. Once a dominant team, the Suns faded from relevance. The same can be said for the Pistons. However, they’ve gotten worse since Williams became the head coach. The Pistons have lost some close games, but remain historically bad.
Monty Williams got upset over the no-call, at the end of the Pistons’ loss to the Knicks. At the end of the game, one of New York’s players fell into one of the Pistons. As a result, Detroit lost the ball. This led to a close win for the Knicks. However, Monty Williams believes that a foul should have been called. As a result, he was highly upset in his postgame interview. He refereed to the no-call as an abomination, and angrily walked out on reporters.
