The Weeknd becomes first artist to ever reach 100 million monthly Spotify listeners

The Weeknd reached 100 million monthly Spotify listeners

Over the past decade, The Weeknd has established himself as one of the biggest artists in the world. As a result, he’s had multiple number one albums, including some of the biggest records of each year, since 2015.

Weeknd’s streaming numbers continue to shatter records as well, as he’s reached another key milestone. According to Chart Data, he now becomes the first artist to surpass a milestone 100 million monthly listeners in Spotify history.

This new Spotify record by Weeknd comes after he released the remix to his 2017 “Die For You” single, last week. This also included Ariana Grande, who he collaborated with two years ago, on his “Save Your Tears” remix.

The release of the Die For You remix also comes after Weeknd put out his fifth studio album, “Dawn FM,” in 2022. That project went on to debut at number two in the US, on the Billboard 200 chart. It was led by hit singles such as “Take My Breath” and “Sacrifice.”

As a result, that same year, Weeknd also finally ventured on his “After Hours Til Dawn” world tour, which became one of the most successful tours of 2022. Multiple dates were added for select cities as well, due to popular demand.
